It seems like only yesterday that the ECM world was all a-buzz about the launch of SharePoint 2013. Well, here comes SharePoint 2016.
Microsoft has begun leaking insights on what SharePoint 2016 and what the latest edition of the platform will entail. In a recent podcast, Microsoft’s SharePoint senior project manager, Bill Baer, confirmed that Microsoft will unveil an “early version” of 2016 at the first-ever Ignite conference, to be held May 4-9, 2015, in Chicago.
During Ignite, Microsoft will incorporate SharePoint 2016 into some of its presentations, showcasing what’s new with the platform. In a blog post, Baer previews the top three sessions at Ignite that will reveal more about 2016. “Hybrid Search” is a particular topic of note, which speaks to the growing number of enterprises turning to a blend of on-premise and cloud technology for their ECM needs.
While Ignite will provide only a small glimpse of what SharePoint 2016 has to offer, Microsoft plans to officially launch the platform later this year. DocPoint will be sure to keep our clients and partners in the loop as we learn more.
